Entertaiment is a broad concept with many manifestations. It can encompass anything from a personal choice of entertainment from an enormous array of pre-recorded products; to a banquet adapted to two; to performances intended for thousands. Although the word is often linked to pleasure and amusement, it can also be serious and have a political or religious message, as in a festival, ceremony or satire. The evolution of forms and images has ensured that the experience of entertainment continues to adapt to a changing world.
Merriam-Webster Dictionary
Something that affords pleasure, diversion or amusement, such as a play, concert or other performance. It can also refer to an agreeable occupation for the mind, as in a crossword puzzle or other diverting activity. According to Oliver and Barstsch (2010), entertainment can be defined objectively as an activity that includes communication between text and audience, involves external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience and takes place in a passive form.
